Road bike route description
It is a harder trip to the region called Axarquia. You will get enough elevation during the first 50km.
From the center of Malaga take the road A-7000 or the MA-345 (old maps) to climb the pass Puerto del Leon. After 20km turn right for Olias / Comares through the MA-166 and at the next crossroad turn left to Comares.
This road MA-3111 takes you along the majestic peak Santopitar (1020 m.a.s.l.) with the views over the Axarquia region and the impressive range of the mountains Sierra de Almijara with the top peak Maroma (2065 m.a.s.l.). All the time you will enjoy the nice asphalt until Comares. The strong climb through the white villages is worth it!!! Views are excellent, tapas and coffee too.
Then go down on the MA-3105 and in the valley turn right for Benamargosa / Velez-Malaga / Torre del Mar. You will have passed all the hills. In Torre del Mar turn right to ride the coastal road N-340 through Rincon de la Victoria and El Palo to Malaga.
