Road bike route description

It is a long route about 150km. You will gain almost 2000m of elevation.

Start in Malaga, take a direction for Campanillas on the MA-405/A-7076 and then to Pizarra on the A-7054, some 30km of the flat area. In Pizarra you will turn left for Casarabonela facing amazing mountains Sierra Prieta and Sierra de Alcaparain. The aim is to go along these hilly formations. Through Casarabonela you have to climb to get to the pass Puerto Martinez (730 m.a.s.) on the road MA-5401 between those mentioned sierras. The downhill to the valley is a bit slow due to the bad quality of asphalt but once you enter a road for El Burgo, it becomes excellent.

El Burgo is located in the valley surrounded by impressive mountains: Sierra de las Nieves, Sierra Prieta and Sierra de Alcaparain. There are lots of bars to get refreshed and then you can start your 2nd climb. There is the pass called Puerto de las Abejas (820 m.a.s.l.) which was many times climbed by professionals during La Vuelta in Andaluaia or La Vuelta a España. The surface is perfect and 8km of climbing through the wide road will pass fast and easy. Behind the summit you will see the Valley of Malaga again and you will descent some 15km to Alozaina.

Since that point the journey on the A-366 to Coin is easy. You take the A-7059/A-7057 from Coin to Estacion de Cartama. There you have to follow the A-7054 to Malaga again.
